An era of Instagram and Facebook knows no boundaries and conceives innumerable choices and "sex education". People are desperately in constant need of approval. Eugene's works are focused on a sensitive topic: absolute excitement and dramatic toughness of being Generation Y and Z. He has buried himself in a world of social media and its powerful influence on millennials. His most recent art highlights growth of “self-racism” and his generation willing to reshape their face/body just to “fit in”.

“Back in 2014 in Seoul, when I met my friend Youky she just graduated from university and her family offered her a face surgery (she refused...) “Inspired by pop stars and encouraged by culture that equates success with physical beauty, the «self-racism subtext» of buying an ideal Korean face. V-line surgery Involves breaking and shaving the jawline to create a V-shaped face. This surgery is popular amongst young Korean pop stars, who have their faces reshaped to give them elfin, anime-like appearances.”I have studied the physical aspects of Jawbone leftovers and decided to showcase them within my photography.”

Since 2015, Eugène uses his own skateboard wheels as a brush and his canvas is no longer regular but a reversed half-pipe shape inspired by the skateboarding ramp, which leads the viewer to wander around the painting and examine its different angles. In trips to Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo and Bangkok, Eugène has also contemplated and recorded the impact of social media on Asian millennials, employing various media to show how the digital world has shaped the new aesthetics and lifestyle of Generation Y.
